A playhouse is something children climb, slide from and spend whole afternoons in. This page sets out how to set one up and use it safely, and — just as importantly — which claims we are not in a position to make.
How To Read Our Listings
A product page states what the maker stated to us, and nothing more. Where the maker gave us a dimension, a weight or a material, we publish it. Where the maker gave us nothing, the listing stays silent rather than filling the gap with a guess.
We do not describe anything on this site as certified, rated, approved or safety-tested by anyone. If a specific certificate, test report or age rating matters for your purchase, email support@trilumitybeauty.com before you buy. We will pass on exactly what the maker has supplied, including if the answer is that no such document exists.
Before You Build
- Choose level, well-drained ground. Do not build on concrete, asphalt or packed earth under climbing or sliding equipment.
- Keep the structure well clear of fences, walls, trees, sheds, washing lines and overhead wires.
- Leave clear space in front of every slide exit and along the full forward and backward arc of every swing.
- Consider a soft, loose-fill surface such as wood mulch under and around raised decks, slides and swings.
- Wait until every box has arrived, then check the contents against the parts list before you start.
Assembly
- Follow the maker's instructions in order, and do not skip or substitute hardware.
- Two adults should build a larger model. Panels, roofs and decks are heavy and awkward to hold in place alone.
- Keep children away from the work area, loose screws, tools and packaging until the build is finished.
- Anchor the structure to the ground if the instructions call for it.
- Plastic bags and packaging film are a suffocation risk. Remove and dispose of them as soon as you unpack.
Everyday Use
- Supervise children while they play, especially on raised decks, stairs, ladders, slides and swings.
- Follow the age guidance in the maker's instructions for your model.
- Remove bike helmets, drawstrings, scarves and necklaces before play. They can catch on equipment.
- Do not let children climb on roofs, railings or the outside of the structure.
- Slides can get hot in direct sun. Check the surface with your hand before children use it.
- Small accessories inside role-play playhouses, such as toy food, cups or tools, can be a choking hazard for children under three. Keep them away from younger siblings.
Regular Checks
- Inspect the playhouse at the start of each season and every few weeks during heavy use.
- Tighten loose bolts and screws, and cap or replace any that protrude.
- Look for splinters, cracked boards, rot, rust and worn swing hangers, and repair or replace them before play resumes.
- Top up loose-fill surfacing that has been kicked away from slide exits and under swings.
